Hi everyone! I am a wildlife biologist and writer. My wildlife career spanned 32 years and three different federal agencies (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs). Since retiring in 2012, I have been engaged in field work and rare plant research in western Colorado, native cactus investigations on my own land, and throwing myself into DIY work on our log home.
Much of my writing inspiration comes from my wildlife and outdoors experiences. Long before retirement, I completed a modern-day fantasy novel and a non-fiction memoir of my two and a half years in Aberdeen, South Dakota. I am currently pursuing publication for my memoir I Never Got the Llama and writing children’s stories based on my travels to the Galapagos Islands last September.
I live with my husband, our American Brittany, Scout (a boy scout not a girl scout), and two horses on 35 acres north of Fort Collins, Colorado. ~ Nancy D. Riley
